A Day with Mom

This morning between services at church the elders and a couple of pastors gathered around Lisa and I, anointed us with oil, and prayed over us. It was a very powerful time of prayer with a lot of Godly mean that I know and look up to. My prayer is that one day I would be one of those men praying fervently over someone else who needs it.

Today was spent with my mom and the rest of the family. (Lisa, sister, brother, brother's fiance, and Dad) We went up to a beach north of Whidby island and had lunch and kind of hung out at the beach. We then drove back home a different way than we came.

I wanted to thank the person who left the comment in my previous entry about the community of people that have what I have, and thank them for the offer to join the community, at this point in the game however I don't know that I can handle too much information about this right now. Important things that will keep me healthy are important to me to know, but I don't want to know odds (God works no matter what the odds) or hear stories about people that haven't made it.

I appreciate the support from all of you, I'll investigate/ join the community when I feel I can handle that.

~B.

  1. Ben, I understand completely. We are available for support if and when you are ready.

    The only advice I would like to leave is for you to see a sarcoma specialist.

    Also ignore all statistics as they do not apply to individuals.

    You are in my thoughts during this difficult time.

    You can contact me at any time. I will not post again.

    Here's a verse the Lord gave me this morning:

    "See now that I, I am He,
    And there is no god besides Me;
    It is I who put to death and give life.
    I have wounded and it is I who heal,
    And there is no one who can deliver from my hand. (Deut. 32:39)

    This speaks to me of the sovereignty of God Almighty in our lives. To someone who doesn't know Him the above words could be terrifying, but He is also the God who said:

    "Do not fear, for I have redeemed you;
    I have called you by name, you are Mine!
    When you pass through the waters, I will be with you;
    And through the rivers, they will not overflow you.
    When you walk through the fire, you will not be scorched,
    Nor will the flame burn you.
    For I am the Lord your God,
    The Holy One of Israel, your Savior." (Is. 43: 1b-3a)

    and:

    "Do not fear, for I am with you;
    Do not anxiously look about you, for I am your God.
    I will strengthen you, surely I will help you,
    Surely I will uphold you with My righteous right hand." (Is 41:10)

    Benjamin--son of the right hand, who is upheld in the righteous right hand of our Great God.

    Love,
    Mom

  3. I've been enlisting the prayer help of my mom's group (an awesome bunch of people) and my group down here.

    I'm pretty sure you've got upwards of a hundred people praying for you now. Feel loved. :)

    Dear Ben and Lisa,
    We are Sydney & Adam's aunt Christine and Uncle Marvin. She asked us to pray and we want you to know we are, along with our small group at our church here in League City Texas. We're praying for a peace in your spirit as well as your complete healing from the cancer.

    One of my (Aunt C) favorite scriptures is Philippians 4:6 (my translation) "Don't be anxious about anything, but in everything, with prayer and thanksgiving, talk with your Father, God. (and here's the promise) And THE PEACE OF GOD, which is beyond what we can understand, WILL SET A GUARD ON YOUR HEART AND YOUR MIND, because of Christ in you." I can just picture that guard pushing away the thoughts of pain and fear that assault us.

    We live not far from the MD Anderson Cancer Research hospital. It's one of the finest (if not the finest) in the world. If you and your family decide you'd like to seek help there, you've got "family" close by. You're welcome to stay with us...we'll help in any way possible.

    You're all in our prayers.

    Love,
    Marvin and Christine Thomas

    Wow, Ben, I think that half of the state of Texas (if not more!) is praying for you!! This is at least the 3rd or 4th group I've heard from down there! I've never been to Texas, but I'll tell you, I love Texans right now!!!

    Love,
    Mom
