"For it is written,"I WILL DESTROY THE WISDOM OF THE WISE, AND THE CLEVERNESS OF THE CLEVER I WILL SET ASIDE." Where is the wise man? Where is the scribe? Where is the debater of this age? Has not God made foolish the wisdom of the world?" - 1 Corinthians 19-20
In going through the study of Romans my small group is doing 1 Corinthians 18-25 was referenced and the above quote was found within it. It really spoke to me this morning. Ever since we met with the surgeon on Tuesday I have had this nagging little voice that pops up at anytime during the day to remind me of the odds of making it out of this. (It's a scary malevolent little voice) The scripture reminded me this morning that God knows what He is doing and that He will confound the "wise man". The surgeon told me a couple times that there isn't much data on the type of cancer I have (66 cases in a 30 year study for a major medical group should be some indication of rarity) and he came across and not being overly optimistic. That is of course his viewpoint. God, while not necessarily giving me the answer to this outcome has given me certain things to cling to.
So while it might be "foolishness" for me to hope in Christ it is the only thing I have to cling to. The "wisdom" of man is far from comforting right now.

Amen, Ben! No matter what our situation, Christ is still our only hope. Any hope we place in ourselves is simply misplaced. Thanks for reminding all of us of His truth.
