the goodness

Last night Lisa and I had dinner with some old friends of mine. (Wes and his wife Crystal, and Ryan) It was my last "solid food" before surgery. I can eat things today, but they have to be within a certain category, so last night was a final food farewell for at least a week or two. It was a good group and we had fun talking over dinner and then back at our place when the meal was done. During the last half of the evening I couldn't help but think about the surgery that was to come and while I tried to ignore it it was like a constant little noise in the back of my mind. By the time everyone left I had been thinking about it for at least an hour and had gotten myself pretty freaked out about it. Then I checked my email and there was a letter in there that had been forwarded to me from my grandmother from a friend of hers. It was a prayer she had written for me for Saturday night. It covered everything I was dealing with that evening. From asking for peace to control issues and trusting God. It was a reminder to me of God's goodness. Not only in the letter itself but in the timing of the letter to me. I think it was God's way of telling me that He is looking out for me and that no matter what happens He will provide for me what I need, when I need it.

I will write one more post before surgery on Monday morning (I go in at 10:45am so there should be plenty of time to write) and then after that you'll be hearing from Lisa for a while.

Reminder to everyone that there is a Prayer Meeting for me at my church tonight at 7pm. If you are in town don't be shy, stop on by. You can also pray for me from wherever you are at as well. This is truly the wonderful part about our God is that He hears us wherever we are.
