Death and Life

When I was first diagnosed with the cancer I have I kept thinking about how I was carrying around the method for my own death in my abdomen. Untreated the tumors in my body would kill me. It was like a time bomb. Granted no one knows how much time they've got on the earth, but my odds were FAR, FAR better of getting hit by a vehicle of some type than getting this type of cancer. Early this morning (again with the AM thinking) I was thinking over it again and God talked to me about it. While I am carrying death in my body, I carry eternal life in my heart. God gave His son, Jesus, to die for me on the cross to forgive my sins. So while things in my physical body are heading south and can kill me, there is safety in the spiritual. There is life there; life that cannot be denied by a tumor in my gut.

God also has brought a couple of instances these past 12 hours into my life to lead me to a Bible verse. Psalm 91. I've encountered it in several places now and I think God is trying to tell me something. I don't know the end result of this chemo and cancer, and I don't want to read into things, but Psalm 91 is at least saying that my trust should be the Lord, and that is where I will find my protection. Thus, I will continue to trust in my savior and see what he has in store for my life!

Prayer requests: Truck sale, strength, slowed crashing white cells, getting to my brother's wedding on Saturday and a good attitude during everything I am going through.

Thanks again for all your prayers and support.

  2. From my morning's reading:

"For those who are according to the flesh set their minds on the things of the flesh, but those who are according to the Spirit, the things of the Spirit. For the mind set on the flesh is death, but the mind set on the Spirit is life and peace,"

"If Christ is in you, though the body is dead because of sin, yet the spirit is alive because of righteousness."

"And not only this, but also we ourselves, having the first fruits of the Spirit, even we ourselves groan within ourselves, waiting eagerly for our adoption as sons, the redemption of our body."

    Romans 8:5-6, 10, 23
