Used energy, new car

Yesterday I was feeling of a high enough caliber to go out with my good friend Jason Kirk and get the car buying done that needed to get done. (We got rid of both other cars yesterday so I figured it was probably time to get the new on before we didn't have anything to drive.)

We ended up with a dark gray Honda Civic Sedan EX. I think with the good help of Jason I was able to get out of there at a decent price. He knows the ropes around those places a lot better than I do. I used to just going in and paying for something...

It only took about 2.5 hours to buy the car, not too painful as experiences go, I was plenty excited to get out of there though. I had pretty much used up my energy reserves sitting there and doing business with them. However I am happy with the car and I think it will serve us for a long time.

Health wise I am feeling pretty good. Tomorrow is typically the day I would crash so they are going to take blood today to see how low everything is. I am kind of hoping that I won't have to go back to the hospital and maybe they can do some general "infusions" (if they need to) at the hospital so I don't have to stay there, I can just "visit" for a couple hours. Anyway, I don't feel as icky as I have the previous times before crashing. We'll see what the doctor and everyone says today.

  1. Ben & Lisa-
Whoa, I am praying for you guys as I write this, and I will pass the news along to David. We haven't kept in touch with many from Crossroads since moving in December, but I'm glad to know what is going on. I pray that God's peace would sustain you both - that would know joy in the midst of this heartache, and that somehow through this, your love for God would increase.
    With prayers,

A new car is almost as exciting as a new baby... without the all nighters! Glad you were able to get all the business completed while you were feeling well. I'm sure that will be a load off your mind.

"For since the creation of the world God's invisible qualities - His eternal power and divine nature - have been clearly seen, being understood from what has been made..." Rom 1:20

May you spend time outside today to soak in some of God's invisible qualities as we are blessed with such optimal NW weather.

Welcome to the world of Honda ownership. We have (2)- a '02 CRV and an '06 Odyssey. We affectionally call them Don and Rhonda Honda. Do you have a name for yours?

On the serious side, I was in my first auto accident ever. God was good and protected my life and the life of the older guy in the other car, but it did result in helping me to examine the finiteness of life. If I were going just a bit faster before he pulled out in front of me. What if I had tried to swerve (which did cross my mind) and I rolled my car. It reminds me of a Wes King song I liked many years ago...."Life is precious...life is sweet."

God is good to give us life. He is the author, the sustainer, and owner of all life. (Ps. 24:1). That means my life belongs to him and whatever he wants to do with is his business. Yes, I like having this life...but as a follower of Jesus, the meaning of life is so much more than just physical life. I think that is what Jesus meant when he said, I am the way the truth and the LIFE. We find our life in Jesus. And when we do, life becomes qualitatitvely more richer and fuller. That is why in the midst of your trials with cancer that you can still rejoice in your sufferings and in the LIFE (zoe no just bios) that God has given.

We love you both and are still prayin'!
