A rash of news

Well, after sampling an ER in the LA area last night I do have some good news to report. I don't have heat rash, nor is it some kind of reaction to exposure to sun.

The problem however is that I have Shingles. When you are young they will tell you that you can only get Chickenpox once. This is only partially true as chickenpox have a sibling that stays in your body once you have "defeated" it. This will crop up as "shingles" if your immune system gets low. (Typically brought on by stress) I have the combination of low immune system AND stress.

They tell me this should only last about 2 weeks and some of the stuff I was looking at on Sunday is already starting to "scar". It's pretty ichy and my side feels like I got hit by something (a low hanging wall?) but the real issue is that my body is drawing so many resources to fight this thing. I could handle pain and itchy, but when my body doesn't have the resources for me to even walk around very much, that is tough.

We got back to our motel this morning at about 4:00am, after getting to the ER (after finding it... (THAT is another story)) and I got about 4 hours of sleep. Lisa got more sleep, but I am going to hang around here today and rest. Hopefully build up some energy for some stuff tonight, but keep it fairly low-key this weekend. No running around and what not for me.

I would GREATLY appreciate your prayers as my medical strangeness continues. That I get rest and can make the most from the time I have to spend with people and see folks this week we're down here.

Thank you all!

~B.

WOW! What a time for Mr. Shingles to strike. It's not fun, let me tell you, I had it when I was a Senior in high School and supposedly had it about 3 months ago but this time it never developed into any boils but if you need any advice, call Nana and Papa, he's had it about 7 times and is now an expert in Shingles. Be careful, it is contagious.

  2. Hey Boyo. I'm heading out to make my way to fly to Virginia in just a bit (the process starts about 24 hours before we'll actually land on the other side of the country.... lame...) but I just wanted to let you know I'll be praying for you. I'll also get my team to pray for you and Lisa as well... there's some pretty hard core prayer warriors on our team so we'll be praying this week. Now get off-line and go back to bed. :P
