Rewind: A Colorado Christmas

Or There and Back again... A Morrell's tale.

Lisa and I decided this morning that the weather in Seattle was going to turn nasty so we changed out tickets to fly this afternoon instead of flying Sunday afternoon. We left for the airport at 12:30pm, boarded our first plane at 4:20pm, ran to our connecting flight in Denver and got on the plane at 5:30pm. Then we eventually took off, we made it to Seattle at around 8:00pm local time. We circled the city for 30 minutes or so, and then the pilot came on and told us we couldn't land because the weather was getting worse and so we were being diverted back to Boise, ID to refuel.

We made our way back to Boise, where we refueled and waited for a couple hours. Some people left the plane at this point. After a long time the pilot came back on and said we were being diverted back to Denver.

So we came back to Denver, talked with the counter person (at 2am) and found that there weren't any flights until Tuesday night, and that was it. We checked coming to Seattle via train and those were booked. The airline wouldn't even do anything about getting us BACK to Colorado Springs, so we had to take a cab, and now we are home again.

Then we looked at driving ourselves and figured that would be too much work (snow, ice, long distance driving) on our bodies (2800 miles) for one week.

On top of all that we have now poured what is approaching 1000 dollars trying to get to Seattle (and back) so I think we need to cut our losses at this point and use our plane tickets another time.

So we have postponed our trip to Seattle. It was a hard choice to make, but we've been awake for running on 22 hours now, and a quarter of that time has been on an Airplane.

We're both so tired that we can't really go to sleep. We need to figure out now what Christmas is going to look like for us. But first some sleep.

We are going to need some prayer I think as this is going to be hard on both of us, and the desire for self pity or getting upset at one another might rise up. So, if you could remember to pray for us and trying to figure out what Christmas together and without family is going to look like for us for the first time in our lives.

Thanks...

~B.
